Hi Ladies, I am hoping to join Consultus very soon and was wondering how being self employed or having the option of both( employed and self employed) works. I am living in spain so am unsure of the tax situation here. Thanks

Hi I work with consults as self employed I pay my tax and national insurance in the UK via an accountant . I personally do not earn enough to pay additional taxes in Spain but if you ask a notaria in Spain I'm sure they will be able to explain things to you. Hope this helps .

Dear Tina

I currently work as Self Employed using Consultus as my agent.

I have dual citizenship with South Africa and UK.

As a Self employed Carer you are responsible for covering all aspects of the daily life with the Client and/or clients representitive (i.e family member) Consultus merely acts as the intermediary.
You are basically "on your own" You are responsible for all your admin and ensuring your documentation is in place and kept up to date. They are your Client and you are the Service Provider.
You are responsible for registering with HMRC and taking care of your annual tax assessment - you can do it online - it is pretty simple.

As an Employed Carer you would have to register with Consultus as an Employee You would then be under the Managed Care bookings - you would have a Manager that works alongside you and the client and get support as and when needed
Consultus would take care of all your admin and pay your taxes (you would obviously have to register as a tax payer in this country). They also make a contribution to the Pension Fund (Gov) and you accrue holiday pay.
You are requested to work a minimum of 20 weeks per annum -

You are able to work as both if you so wish.

As mentioned above by Donna you would have to discuss the implication with a notaria in Spain if you are currently a tax payer in Spain. I am unable to help with that.

I hope that helps.

Regards
Anita

Hi,Donna, I don't know if you are a resident in Spain, but my understanding is that if you are you have to pay tax earned in UK to the country you reside in.
I am living in Portugal so I don't know if the same rules apply in Spain. Possibly. Consultus have an 'employed' opportunity so maybe they can help
